NYC Soil Survey team, Dr. Richard Shaw front
Dr. Luis Hernandez, the NYC Project leader before Shaw, who collected many of the samples (1995-2001).
Riker measurement: Riker is dark coal ash soil formed from the deposition of coal burning furnace refuse over 100 years ago.

Bigapple: This soil formed as a result of dredging activities in the coastal waterways and rivers.

An example of the original correlation boxes used in the field work portion of the Survey. Find examples of Bigapple series in Correlation Drawing at H11-H17.

Thank you to Dr. Edward Landa for help with concept and organizing!
